NEWARK, Del. -- The Blue team dominated the action at the annual University of Delaware football spring game Saturday afternoon as Wes Hills ran for 133 yards and a touchdown and Jalen Randolph scored twice to lead that squad to a 24-0 victory over the White team.
The annual Blue-White Spring Game, played before approximately 2,000 fans under glorious sunny skies, capped spring drills for the Blue Hens football squad. The White team consisted mostly of first
team offensive players while the Blue contingent consisted mostly of first team defensive players.
The teams played two 12-minute quarters and finished with a 20-minute third quarter with a running clock. The game took just under 90 minutes to play.
Hills, Delaware's leading rusher in 2014 with 952 yards as a sophomore, carried 13 times for 122 yards and opened the scoring with a 33-yard jaunt down the right sideline with 8:54 left in the opening quarter.
“I'm pleased where we are as a team,” said Brock. “I thought we had some really good individual efforts and we ran the ball efficiently. Both quarterbacks did reasonably well and did what we asked them to do. They will have a lot more expected of them in the fall but they are progressing. Defensively (DT) David Tinsley was back out here and was dynamic and jumped off the tape. We now enter the next faze of the program with the off-season, which is critically important in terms of how successful we will be. We are excited.”
Rising senior Jerel Harrison led all receivers with four catches for 65 yards while Randolph caught two passes for 40 yards and a touchdown.
In the kicking game, All-American punter Eric Enderson averaged 44.8 yards on five punts while redshirt freshman kicker Frank Raggo connected on a 34-yard field goal in the second quarter and also converted an extra point.
Defensively, sophomore linebacker Tommy Wilmoth led all tacklers with seven for the White team while sophomore linebacker Larry Spears paced the Blue team with six stops.
