UD Men's Golf Recruit Mark Benevento, Jr. Wins Two GAP Junior Tournaments

ORELAND, Pa. -- University of Delaware men's golf incoming freshman Mark Benevento, Jr. has enjoyed a tremendous July that has included Junior wins at the Francis X. Hussey Memorial and Jock MacKenzie Memorial.
Benevento, a native of Somers Point, N.J., teamed with Matthew Davis as the duo won the Francis X. Hussey Memorial on July 6. The two players carded a seven under par 64 on the par 71, 6,324-yard Rolling Green Golf Club course to win the tournament by two strokes.
This year marked the 30th edition of the tournament, which is a Junior better-ball event. Benevento drained an eagle putt on the seventh hole to help the duo win the event.
The following Monday Benevento won a playoff over Max Siegfried to capture the 31st Jock MacKenzie Memorial on the par 72, 6,370-yard course at Sandy Run Country Club. Both players carded a three under par 69 during the round, before Benevento birdied the second playoff hole on 9 to earn the victory.
