Delaware Men's Golfers To Compete in 12 Tournaments During 2015-16 Season

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team will compete in 12 tournaments during the 2015-16 season as the Blue Hens announced their schedule on Monday.
Mike KeoghThe Blue Hens will open their campaign on Sept. 12-13 at the Navy Fall Classic, a tournament in which Blue Hens captured team titles in 2010 and 2011. The following week UD heads to Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Ithaca, N.Y. for the Cornell Invitational on Sept. 19-20.
The Blue Hens will compete in the Patriot Classic hosted by George Mason on Sept. 27-28 at Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Va., before traveling north for the Binghamton Invitational at the Links at Hiawatha Landing Golf Club in Apalachin, N.Y. on Oct. 4-5.
Following a two-week break, UD will take part in the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon University at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C. on Oct. 19-20. The Blue Hens again wrap up their fall slate on Oct. 25-27 at the Old Dominion Invitational at Kilmarlic Golf Course in Powells Point, N.C.
The spring season begins on Mar. 14-15 when Delaware competes in the Cape Fear Intercollegiate at Cape Fear National in Leland, N.C. The following week the Blue Hens head south to again participate in the William & Mary Invitational at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va. on Mar. 20-22.
After competing in the Villanova Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa. on Mar. 28-29, Delaware travels back to North Carolina to take part in the East Carolina Invitational at Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, N.C. on Apr. 4-5.
UD will play in the Greenbrier Invitational at Greenbrier Resort in White Sulpher Springs, W.Va. on Apr. 10-12, before again wrapping up the season at the CAA Championship on the Founders Course at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C. Delaware finished in sixth place at last year's conference tournament, while Kyle Martin tied for fifth in the individual standings.
The Blue Hens return their top three golfers from the 2014-15 campaign, when Delaware posted four second place team finishes. Jack Gianniny paced the squad with a 74.47 average round as a freshman, while classmate Kieran Purcell finished second with a 74.63 stroke average. Martin, the lone senior on the squad, ranked third with a 74.77 average round and paced the team with four top 10 individual finishes.
