UD Men's Golfers Tied For Eighth Place After First Day of Navy Fall Classic

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The University of Delaware men's golf squad carded a 300 team score on Sunday and is tied for eighth place out of 10 teams following the first day of the season-opening Navy Fall Classic.
Princeton leads the field with a 280 score, while Georgetown is second at 284. Seton Hall sits in third place at 286, followed by George Mason at 287 and Le Moyne at 289.
Blue Hen sophomore Blaine Lafferty fired a three over par 74 on the par 71, 6,528-yard Naval Academy Golf Course, ending the day tied for 21st in the individual standings. Senior Kyle Martin and sophomore Kieran Purcell are each tied for 31st place after both players carded a four over par 75 on Sunday.
Freshman Mark Benevento recorded a five over par 76 during his Blue Hen debut and is tied for 37th place at the tournament, while sophomore Jack Gianniny is tied for 41st place after his six over par 77.
John Clare of Le Moyne and David Cha of Seton Hall are tied for the lead as both players carded a four under par 67 on Sunday.
The second and final round of the Navy Fall Classic will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
