Carpentier joins the Blue Hens from George Mason University where she was a member of the Atlantic-10 All-Rookie and All-Championship Teams as the Patriots' starting goalkeeper last season. Carpentier collected 147 saves with a 46.2 save percentage and 10.00 goals allowed per game while recording a mark of 10-7.
“Taylor has demonstrated that she has what it takes to be an impact player at the Division I level,” remarked Linville. “She was a game-changing goalie in her rookie campaign at Mason. Her quick hands and confident leadership are likely to make an immediate impact at UD. With four distinctly different goalies on our squad, it will be competitive to earn the starting nod, but Taylor is sure to add depth and talent to the position.”
A US Lacrosse First Team All-American in 2014, Carpentier registered more than 300 saves with a career record of 47-11 for the Trojans. She was also a three-time letterwinner in both soccer and basketball. For the soccer team, Carpentier posted 120 saves while allowing just four goals with seven straight shutouts to lead Garden City to the state championship.
The daughter of Richard and Alison, Carpentier plans on majoring in health behavior science at Delaware and has aspirations of becoming a coach following graduation.
Stenson joins the Hens from Conestoga High School where she was a First Team All-American for the Cougars. The three-year starting goalie amassed 109 saves as a senior with a 51.9 save percentage in the cage. Her team also posted a record of 54-21 with two state quarterfinals and one state finals appearance during her tenure.
Laney is a rising star in the cage,” Linville commented. “She had a phenomenal senior year and led her team to the Philly State Championship game while clinching a league title. She is a lefty, which will diversify and add depth to the position. Laney's unique skill set will make an immediate impact in our program. We are excited to see her take her game to the next level here at Delaware.”
The daughter of Marty and Sylvia, Stenson plans on majoring in exercise science.
