No. 43 Princeton Overpowers Delaware, 7-0

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Blue Hens opened their spring season with tough competition Friday as Delaware fell to No. 43 Princeton, 7-0, at Jadwin Gym.
The Tigers (1-0) opened the day by sweeping the doubles point with 6-4, 6-0 and 6-2 victories in the first, second and third flights, respectively.
Katrine Steffensen, ranked No. 87 nationally, picked up the first singles win of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over junior Denny LaMachia (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton).
Sophomore Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West) and freshman Annie Jaskulski (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) came the closest to victory for the Blue Hens (0-1) in the first and third flights.
Studnicki forced Amanda Muliawan to a 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 decision in the top spot while Jaskulski pushed Nicole Kalhorn to a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) score in the third slot.
“We achieved what we set out to do today. Getting to compete against a Top 50 team is an incredible opportunity and the women really ceased the day, especially since this was our first match of the season.”
