Delaware Doubles Teams Advance to Day Two of ITA Atlantic Regional

NORFOLK, Va. – The Blue Hens had a successful first day of play Friday at the ITA Atlantic Regional, hosted by Old Dominion University at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Delaware had two doubles teams in action and both came out with wins to advance to Saturday's round of 32.
Freshman Brooke Pilkington (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) and sophomore Sara Komer (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) paired for their sixth consecutive victory of the year by defeating Navy's Amanda Keller and Carlee Conway, 8-4.
Pilkington and Komer will now face Pitt's Audrey Ann Blakely and Lolade Ogungbesan beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. With a win, they would advance to play at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Graduate student Denny LaMachia (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) and junior Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West) matched up against Abby Amos and Rebecca Harris from CAA rival James Madison and picked up the 8-5 decision.
The pair advances to take on Virginia's Chloe Gullickson and Cassie Mercer, who are currently ranked 5-8, also Saturday at 9 a.m. A win would also move them to 10:30 a.m. play Saturday.
