Bob Shillinglaw, will be aiming to shake off a 14-11 setback to Mt. St. Mary's last Friday and avoid the team's first 0-3 start since the 1986 squad started out 0-4 before righting the ship and winning the East Coast Conference title. Delaware led Mt. St. Mary's heading into the final quarter but the Mountaineers tallied four straight goals to open the stanza and never looked back.
Delaware has gotten multiple-goal efforts from Paul Major (three goals), Steve DeLargy (three goals), Chris Colaneri (two goals), and Will Hirschmann (two goals) this season while junior Sam Walsh has won 15 of 28 (.538) faceoff attempts. Defensively, freshman Austin Haynes, senior John O'Connor, and junior Tommy Yoviene have combined to force 10 turnovers.
Navy, which went 9-5 a year ago, will enter Sunday's clash with a 1-1 record behind a season-opening 10-6 win over Air Force and a tough 12-11 overtime setback to No. 7 ranked Johns Hopkins in their last outing on Feb. 9. The Mids are led offensively by Patrick Keena, Jack Ray, and Greyson Torain, each of whom has scored five goals this season.
This game will be Delaware's final tune-up before heading west to take on Michigan on Feb. 27 at Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa, Calif.
