Jim Sherman. “It was disappointing overall, but we are a little banged up physically and we will learn from the weekend. We will make adjustments to be a better club.”Delaware jumped out to a 2-1 lead as Patten led off the second inning with the team's first home run of the year and his first career clout to left field and left fielder Jordan Glover knocked in centerfielder Kevin Mohollen with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. Mohollen had tripled to start the inning.
But that would be the last lead Delaware would enjoy as Old Dominion scored four runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth to take a 9-2 advantage. Second baseman Jason McMurray highlighted the fifth with a three-run home run and leftfielder Justin Hayes had the big hit in the sixth with a two-run single.
Delaware added two more runs in the seventh inning as second baseman Austin Niggebrugge led off the inning with a single and scored on a two-run home run by Rapp, his first career dinger.
Blue Hen junior captain Burk FitzPatrick started and suffered his first career loss as he allowed five runs and seven hits in 4.1 innings of work.
