ELKTON, Md. – Freshman Blaise Casselbury (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) collected his first career singles victory Saturday evening, but the Blue Hens were on the wrong side of a 6-1 defeat to the hands of James Madison at Elkton Indoor Tennis.
Casselbury picked up Delaware's lone win on the night in No. 5 singles with a 6-3, 7-6 (7) decision over Miljan Ruzic.
The Blue Hens (0-3, 0-1 CAA) fell behind early as the Dukes (1-0, 1-0) swept the team doubles point.
JMU took the 3-0 advantage before Casselbury put the Hens on the board with his victory. The Dukes sealed the win in No. 3 singles before finishing the night with six total victories.
“The men rebounded after doubles play and competed on each and every court during singles. JMU is very well coached and earned the win tonight. I am happy on how our intensity picked up as the evening continued and we will now prepare for Navy next weekend.”
