ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Delaware continued spring season action Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 loss to Navy at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
The Mids (4-5) opened the day by sweeping the team doubles point.
On the singles side, the Blue Hens (0-4) forced three-sets in the second and third flights.
Junior Tyler Flematti (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) pushed Krishna Jana to three sets in the second spot before falling, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-5).
In the third flight, freshman Venkatesh Ramkumar (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) nearly picked up the win over Andrey Majkic in a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) match.
Sophomore Colin Wong (Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia/SMK Kota Kemuning) appeared in his first dual match this season, which resulted in victory for Tucker Massie, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, in No. 5 singles.
“I was happy to see Colin Wong and Roy Cheng compete together for the first time this season and almost come away with a win at third doubles. The men had a slow start in singles, but all compete well today. Tyler Flematti and Venkatesh Ramkumar both played close in three-set losses and Colin competed well in his first singles match of the season. We look forward to taking on Lehigh next weekend.”
