Bob Shillinglaw was stopped short in his quest for his 300th career victory at Delaware. Now in his 38th year at the helm at UD, he is trying to become only the second coach in NCAA Division I history to win 300 games at one school
• The Blue Hens had won two straight at home over the Wildcats, including wins of 13-9 in 2012 and 11-9 in 2014. Villanova now leads the overall series 11-10.
• Delaware now embarks on a four-game road swing beginning March 8 at Manhattan. The Hens will not return home until their Colonial Athletic Association opener Apr. 2 vs. Massachusetts
• The 23 goals was the most allowed by Delaware since a 28-10 setback to No. 4 ranked Navy on Apr. 11, 1978, the year before Shillinglaw took over as head coach
