University of Delaware Men's Golf Adds Three To Program

Mike Keogh announced Monday.
Diforio, a native of White Plains, N.Y. (Iona Prep), won the 2015 Carter Cup at Baltusrol Golf Club over the summer to secure his first career MGA title. He shot an ever par 71 and 72 on the Upper and Lower Courses to post the victory. Diforio also captured the Minor League Golf Tour's tournament at Atlantis Country Club this October by carding a six under par 66 to win by a stroke.
Additionally, he tied for eighth place in a field of over 100 golfers at the U.S. Amateur at Glenarbor Golf Club last July by posting a one under par 75-68-143. Diforio, who attended Florida Atlantic University during the fall but did not compete for the Owls, is immediately eligible for the Blue Hens this spring.
Melville (above), who attends Upper Dublin High School in Fort Washington, Pa., tied for 10th place out of 108 golfers during the 2015 PIAA District I High School Championship last October with a 76-71-147. He tied for third place out of 72 golfers and won a playoff last June by carding a 71-74-145 at the USGA Junior Amateur Qualifier. Melville placed second at the 2014 PIAA District I Championship after firing a 70-72-142.
Wren (right), a Morgantown, Pa. native who attends Twin Valley High School, finished in second place at the Pennsylvania Junior Amateur in Hershey by carding a 72-74-146. He tied for fifth place at the 2015 PIAA District Championship with a 76-71-147 at Briarwood Golf Club, and tied for seventh place at the PIAA State Championship at Heritage Hills after firing a 76-77-153.
Delaware opens its 2016 spring season on Mar. 13-14 at the Cape Fear Intercollegiate in Leland, N.C.
