Delaware Novice Eight Boat Wins Petite Final on Second Day of Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The University of Delaware Novice Eight boat won its petite final race on Sunday as the Blue Hen rowing team wrapped up action at the Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake.
The Novice Eights finished fourth of six schools with a time of 7:29.16 during the semifinal race, before winning the petite final in 7:17.69.
The Varsity Four boat finished in second place out of six crews in its third final race by crossing the line in 7:50.20, finishing behind only UMass at 7:43.88.
The UD Varsity Eight boat finished in fifth place out of seven boats during its semifinal, recording a time of 7:02.05, and then placed third in the third final in 7:04.96. The Blue Hen Second Varsity Eight crew finished in sixth place in its semifinal race, crossing the finish line in 7:22.17, before also placing third in the third final in 7:10.26.
The Third Varsity Eight boat came in sixth place during its heat with a time of 7:55.15.
The Blue Hens return to the water on Sunday, April 17 when they compete in the George Mason Invitational on the Occoquan River in Fairfax, Va.
