Patty Post is confident the team is ready to compete this weekend.
“Right now we are ranked right in the middle of the pack but really anyone can win on any given day,” said Post. “I try not to put any expectations on what the outcome would be and focus more on the process.”
“We can't control how everyone else does so we need to focus on our game,” says senior Nathalie Filler. “I think committing to every shot and being confident in all the hard work we've put in will be a factor in doing well this week.”
The Hens will play in a practice round on Thursday, before their first round on Friday.
“We will practice a lot around the green and our short game in general so we can get a feel for the grass,” says Post. “We are stressing the little things, taking everything one shot at a time and making sure we are committed.”
This is the team's fifth year playing the course at St. James Plantation and of the top 4 teams, Delaware and UNCW have played the most rounds there. Additionally, the five-woman team selected to play this year is made up of all seniors and juniors: Vimonthip Benjasupawan, Grace Chua, Filler, Slane, and Vitoria Teixeira will compete in the three-day tournament starting on Friday.
“We truly have the most experienced team going into this,” says Post.
