UD LAX BATTLES
The Blue Hens are dedicating the 2016 season to our loved ones who are fighting or have fought cancer. This Friday we will honor the life and legacy of Katie Kernan, close friend of alumna and the game's honorary captain, Kierstan Smith '15. Katie's battle began in January 2013 when, at 17, she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a very progressive type of brain cancer. During a 16-month battle, Katie never lost her personality as she always found a way to fill up the room with energy and enthusiasm. It was clear from the beginning that Katie was not going down without a serious fight. Unfortunately Katie lost her battle on July 19, 2014. Those who knew her gained a guardian angel.
