Blue Hens Tied For Fourth Place Following First Day of CAA Women's Golf Championship

Andi Slane is tied for sixth following Friday's opening round at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
The Blue Hens posted a 323 team score on Friday, tied with the College of Charleston for fourth place out of eight squads. UNCW leads the field with a 307 score, Elon sits in second place at 309, while William & Mary is third with a 313 score.
Slane carded a five over par 77 on the par 72, 6,066-yard Reserve Club course at St. James Plantation, ending the day tied for sixth place in the individual standings. Slane, last year's conference medalist, was five over through the front nine but shot even par on the back nine, including birdies on the 12th, 14th and 17th holes.
Fellow senior Nathalie Filler is tied for eighth place with a six over par 78 on the day, while classmate Vimonthip Benjasupawan fired a 10 over par 82 to end the round tied for 21st place. Vitoria Teixeira is tied for 32nd place after carding a 14 over par 86, while Grace Chua fired a 16 over par 88 to finish the day in 37th place.
Megan Theiss of UNCW leads the tournament with a one under par 71, while Emily Brooks of Elon sits in second place two shots back.
The second round of the championship will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
