Blue Hen Men's Golfers Finish Seventh at CAA Championship

SOUTHPORT, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team concluded its 2015-16 season this weekend by finishing in seventh place at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
The Blue Hens posted a 306 team score during Sunday's final round, finishing seventh out of nine schools with a 911 three-round total. College of Charleston captured the team title with an 869 score, following by James Madison at 891 and UNCW at 893.
Delaware sophomore Kieran Purcell carded a four over par 76 on Sunday on the par 72, 6,784-yard Founders Club course at St. James Plantation, as he finished in a tie for 14th place in the individual standings with a 10 over par score of 74-76-76-226. Senior Kyle Martin concluded his Blue Hen career by finishing tied for 20th place with an 11 over par 78-70-79-227.
Junior Marc Oliveri, who fired a 78 during his final round, finished in 25th place with a 14 over par 76-76-78-230. Freshman Mark Benevento carded the lowest round of the day by a UD player with a two over par 74, finishing tied for 26th at 79-78-74-231, 15 over par. Sophomore Blaine Lafferty came in 30th place at the tournament with a 17 over par score of 79-76-78-233.
Charleston's William Rainey was the individual champion with a five under par 71-69-71-211, while Ryan Cole of James Madison finished two shots back.
