Two Blue Hen Boats Compete in Semifinals on First Day of Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The Blue Hen Varsity Four and Novice Four boats each competed in semifinal races on Saturday as the Blue Hens opened action at the Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake.
The Varsity Four boat placed third in its heat with a time of 8:06.53, finishing behind Miami at 8:01.68 and UMass at 8:03.60. The Blue Hens advanced to the semifinals, where Delaware came in fifth with a time of 8:52.37.
The Novice Four boat also finished in third place in its heat with a time of 9:22.14, behind Holy Cross at 8:46.90 and Princeton at 9:02.71. Delaware advanced to the semifinals where it finished in fifth place in 9:18.22, and will compete in the third final on Sunday at 12:11 p.m.
The Novice Eight boat placed second out of five teams in its heat with a time of 8:13.79, finishing behind only Army at 8:06.49. The crew will compete in its semifinal race on Sunday at 8:48 a.m. The Varsity Eight crew finished fourth during its heat by posting a time of 7:32.29, and will race in the semifinals Sunday at 8:24 a.m.
The UD Second Varsity Eight boat came in fifth in its heat with a time of 7:43.78, and will compete in the semifinals Sunday at 8:06 a.m. The Second Varsity Four boat also placed fifth in its heat, crossing the line with a time of 8:42.76.
The Third Varsity Eight boat did not race on Saturday and will compete in its heat at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
