Blue Hen Rowers Tie For Fourth Place at CAA Championship

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- The University of Delaware rowing team concluded its 2016 season Sunday morning on Mercer Lake by tying for fourth place at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
Northeastern claimed the league title with 36 points, followed by Drexel with 30 points and Eastern Michigan with 18 points. Delaware and Villanova tied for fourth with 16 points, while Buffalo finished sixth with 10 points.
The Blue Hen Varsity Fours boat finished in third place in its race with a time of 7:54.040, behind Northeastern and Drexel. The Second Varsity Eights crew placed fourth in its race, crossing the line in 7:06.720.
The UD Varsity Eights were fifth out of six crews by posting a time of 6:50.799, finishing 13 seconds ahead of Drexel. The Third Varsity Eights boat placed second in its event with a time of 7:16.482, finishing behind only Northeastern, although that race did not count towards the team standings.
Blue Hen junior Claire Brown and senior coxswain Sarah Tenenbaum, who each competed with the Varsity Eights boat during every regatta this season, were named to the All-CAA Rowing Team.
Sophomore Emma Spillman, who carries a 3.95 grade point average as a neuroscience major, represented Delaware on the CAA All-Academic Team.
