Mike Keogh announced Thursday.
The Blue Hens will open their campaign on Sept. 3-4 at the Colgate Invitational at Seven Oaks Country Club in Hamilton, N.Y., before again competing in the Navy Fall Classic at the Naval Academy Course in Annapolis, Md. on Sept. 18-19.
The Blue Hens will travel north for the Binghamton Fall Invitational at the Links at Hiawatha Landing Golf Club in Apalachin, N.Y. on Oct. 2-3, and following a week off, will participate in the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon University at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C. on Oct. 17-18. The Blue Hens again wrap up their fall slate at the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Invitational at Kilmarlic Golf Course in Powells Point, N.C. on Oct. 23-25.
The Blue Hens return five of their top six golfers from the 2015-16 squad, when the team averaged 76.15 shots per round and won the Binghamton Fall Invitational team title. Rising junior Kieran Purcell, who was the only UD player to appear in all 12 tournaments a year ago, ranked second on the team with a 75.45 average round and was the Blue Hens' top finisher at the CAA Championship.
Fellow junior Blaine Lafferty posted a 75.68 stroke average while competing in all but one invitational, while classmate Jack Gianniny was the Binghamton Fall Invitational medalist to go with a team-best three top-10 finishes and five top-20 finishes. Senior co-captain Marc Oliveri, who posted a 76.45 average round, and sophomore Mark Benevento, who averaged 76.92 shots per round, are also back for the Blue Hens.
"We are excited about our schedule for the fall," Keogh said. "The first three tournaments will be solid tests up north, which will prepare us to go to North Carolina for Elon and Old Dominion. In those two events, we always face a number of top 25 and top 50 teams from the south. That will give us a gauge as to how we will fare during our championship season in the spring."
