Blue Hen Rising Junior Jack Gianniny Finishes Second at New York State Amateur

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. -- University of Delaware men's golfer Jack Gianniny posted another impressive performance this summer by finishing in second place at the New York State Amateur this week.
Gianniny (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) carded a three under par 71-72-69-69-281 on Tuesday through Thursday at the par 71 Mohawk Golf Club, finishing two strokes behind Tyler McArdell at the prestigious event. Gianniny placed second out of the 41 players who made the cut, and was one of only three golfers who finished under par for the tournament.
Additionally, UD rising sophomore Bobby Diforio finished in 25th place at the tournament by carding a nine over par 74-75-74-70-293.
Gianniny, who will be a junior at Delaware this fall, competed in nine tournaments for the Blue Hens in 2015-16, ranking fourth on the team with a 75.88 stroke average. He led UD with three top-10 finishes and five top-20 finishes on the year, and earned medalist honors at the Binghamton Fall Invitational while leading Delaware to the team title. He fired a four under par 65-75-140 at Binghamton, while his opening round 65 tied for the second lowest round in school history. Diforio (White Plains, N.Y./Iona Prep) joined the Blue Hens last winter and appeared in one tournament for UD during the spring season.
