Blue Hen Hall of Famer Oscar Mestre Finishes Second at Pennsylvania Senior Championship

LANCASTER, Pa. -- University of Delaware Athletics Hall of Fame member and two-time men's golf All-American Oscar Mestre finished in second place at the Pennsylvania State Senior Championship earlier this month.
Mestre (right in photo) finished in second place out of 86 golfers at the tournament on Aug. 1-2 by carding a four over par 72-74-146 on the par 71 Lancaster Country Club course. He finished behind only Scott Moore, who captured the title by edging Mestre by one stroke with a three over par 145.
Mestre was an NCAA All-American Honorable Mention selection and NCAA Tournament participant in both 1980 and 1981, and was the Blue Hens' team MVP during each season. The 1980 EIGA runner-up and 1981 East Coast Conference champion, Mestre was inducted into the UD Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001. He averaged 77.29 shots per round during his four-year Blue Hen career from 1977-81.
