STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The University of Delaware women's golf team posted rounds of 299 and 315 on Saturday as the Blue Hens sit in fourth place following the first day of the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational.
Delaware recorded a two-round total of 614 during the first day of the tournament, finishing the day fourth out of nine squads. The host Nittany Lions lead the field with a 590 score, followed by Richmond at 604, Columbia at 607, and the Blue Hens.
UD freshman Ariane Klotz fired an eight over par 74-78-152 on the par 72, 6,306-yard PSU Blue Course, ending the day tied for 12th place in the individual standings. Vitoria Teixeira is tied for 20th place with a 10 over par 75-79-154, while Valentina Mueller is tied for 25th place with an 11 over par 73-82-155. Grace Chua fired a 14 over par 82-76-158 to end the day tied for 32nd place, while Josefina Fernandez-Davila is tied for 42nd place with a 17 over par 77-84-161.
Additionally five Blue Hens competed in the tournament as individuals, led by Ashley Dingman who is tied for 29th place with a 13 over par score of 79-78-157. Isabella Rimton is tied for 39th place with a 16 over par 76-84-160, while Kylie Greulich sits in 57th place with a 28 over par 85-87-172. Marie Bogenez sits in 59th place with a 32 over par 90-86-176, while Aashaka Desai is 60th with a 35 over par 86-93-179.
Jackie Rogowicz of Penn State leads the field with a two under par 68-74-142, while Isabella Rusher of Richmond sits two shots back at even par.
The final round of the invitational will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday morning.
