Delaware Picked Fourth in CAA Preseason Poll; Two Blue Hens Recognized

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team had two players honored while the Blue Hens were selected to finish fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association in the league's preseason voting, as decided upon by the conference's head coaches.
Seniors Coley Ricci (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Jamie Schwartz (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) were picked as All-CAA Preseason Honorable Mention.
A midfielder, Ricci posted a breakout season last year with 24 points on 21 goals and three assists. She started 15 of 17 games played and tied for second on the team with 15 caused turnovers and two game-winning goals.
A two-time All-CAA Second Team honoree, Schwartz continued to bolster her career numbers with a successful junior campaign last season. The attacker led the Hens with 29 goals and added 16 assists for a career-best 45 points. Schwartz is Delaware's career leader for active players with 89 points, 50 goals and 39 assists.
Towson's Kaitlyn Montalbano was chosen as the CAA Women's Lacrosse Preseason Player of the Year.
The defending CAA champion Towson Tigers were picked to finish atop the standings in 2017 by earning four first place votes and a total of 35 points. Last season's championship runner-up, James Madison, collected three first place votes and 33 points to finish in second.
Elon registered 25 points and are slated to finish third for the upcoming year while the Blue Hens received 21 points for the fourth place slot.
Drexel (17) was fifth while Hofstra (10) and William & Mary (7) rounded out the standings in sixth and seventh places, respectively.
