NEWARK, Del. – Led by Nicole Enabosi's fourth straight game with a double double and Sadé Chatman's career-high 20 points, the Blue Hens picked up the 65-53 victory over Northeastern at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Enabosi (at left), a forward from Gaithersburg, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel, recorded 15 points
and 13 rebounds to go along with three assists and three steals in 33 minutes of play.
A forward/center from St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central, Chatman went 10-of-15 from the floor and added two blocked shots, two rebounds and an assist as the Blue Hens (9-8, 3-3 CAA) collected their second consecutive win.
Delaware jumped out to an 18-7 lead in the first quarter and outscored the Huskies (6-12, 2-4 CAA), 18-0, over an eight-minute span in the first half and never looked back in the contest. Northeastern cut the lead to 10 late in the third, but never got any closer.
Francesca Sally guided the Huskies with 14 points, seven rebounds and the team's lone blocked shot of the evening.
“I feel really good about where everyone's focus is right now. Our defense was outstanding tonight, especially in the first half. If we keep playing team defense like this, it will take us a long way. Defense helps the offensive end as well. We're really playing like a team right now and that shows in
everything we're doing. We have to keep this rolling as there's still a long way to go in the season.”Sophomore Nicole Enabosi
“I just try to let it [rebounding] come to me. It's extremely important, so I try to get as many as I can. Rebounding is all about hustling and being aggressive. If the ball is out there, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that it becomes Delaware's possession.”
