RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hen freshman guard Ryan Daly picked up yet another CAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week award on Monday after two more stellar performances for the Blue Hens last weekend.
Daly (Ardmore, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) averaged 24.0 points and 6.5 rebounds while leading the Blue Hens in scoring during both games, knocking down 8 of 13 three-point attempts and hitting all 10 of his free throws.
Daly scored 27 points, went 4 of 5 from three-point range, tied for the team lead with six rebounds, and handed out three assists in Thursday's 69-62 win over Northeastern. He then posted team-highs of 21 points and seven boards Saturday vs. Towson.
Daly now has six 20-point games on the season, the most ever by a UD freshman. He has led the Blue Hens in scoring during eight of the last 10 games, and has paced the team in rebounding in seven of the last nine contests.
Daly currently leads Delaware and all CAA freshmen with 14.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. His 39 three-pointers made also leads the Blue Hens, while his 15 steals rank him second on the squad. Among conference games, Daly is fourth in the CAA by averaging 19.3 points per game and eighth by pulling down 6.8 boards per contest.
Daly has now won the CAA Rookie of the Week award four times, tied for the most in school history along with Alphonso Dawson (2007-08), Devon Saddler (2010-11) and Jarvis Threatt (2011-12).
