Mike Keogh has announced that Matt Bastian will join the Blue Hens this spring while three high school standouts will join the program next fall.
Bastian, a native of Media, Pa., was a two-time first team All-State selection at nearby Archmere Academy. He has qualified for the last three Pennsylvania Opens, and earned a top 20 ranking for the IJGT during the 2014-15 season.
Christian Chapman, a Victor, N.Y., native who attends Victor High School, won the 2016 New York State Junior Championship with a six under par score of 68-70-138. A three-time first team All-Greater Rochester and three-time Daily Messenger Player of the Year, Chapman won the 2016 Section 5 Championship and the 2016 Section 5 Monroe County Championship. Last summer he fired a 63 in an AJGA event at Saucon Valley Country Club.
Jake Hanzel, a native of Sewell, N.J. who attends Washington Township High School, qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur by carding a 74-69-143 at Chesapeake Bay Rising Sun. He then fired a 153 at the Amateur, missing the match play cut by just two strokes. Hanzel, who won the IJGT Philly Showcase with a 74-73-147, represented the Golf Association of Philadelphia at the 53rd Williamson Cup.
Luke Shevlin, a Thornton, Pa. native who attends Rustin High School, shot a 73 at the PIAA East Regional Championships at Golden Oaks Golf Club. He fired a 147 at the PIAA District 1 Championships at Turtle Creek Golf Course, and placed second at the Club Championship at Concord Country Club with a 148 score.
