Mia DeRuggiero Named CAA Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hens freshman Mia DeRuggiero (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) was recognized by the CAA Monday as the midfielder was named the league's Rookie of the Week for her play.
DeRuggiero posted four goals and an assist as Delaware split games last week.
In Wednesday's 19-9 win at Monmouth, the midfielder tallied a season-best two goals and collected her first career ground ball.
She then earned her first career start against nationally-ranked Virginia Tech and registered a season-high three points on two goals and an assist to go along with the first two caused turnovers of her career and another ground ball.
Devin Nihill (Drexel) and McKinley Wade (William & Mary) shared Player of the Week accolades while Rachel Ramirez (Elon) collected Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Hens return to the turf this Wednesday as Delaware hosts Bryant at 5 p.m. before heading to the nation's capital Saturday to face George Washington at 1 p.m.
