Delaware Women’s Golf Team Ties For Second Place at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware women's golf squad fired the lowest team round of the day on Tuesday as the Blue Hens moved up to finish in a tie for second place at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate.
Delaware fired a 294 score during its final round at the tournament, tying for second place out of 22 teams with a 901 three-round total. Ball State captured the team title with a 900 score, while the Blue Hens and host Tribe tied for second place one shot back.
UD senior Vitoria Teixeira carded a four under par 68 during her final round on the par 72, 6,025-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort, tying for 10th place in the individual standings with a nine over par 78-79-68-225. Starting on the sixth hole, Teixeira opened her round with a par and two bogeys, but responded to record six birdies and nine pars the rest of the way. She is the second Blue Hen to fire a 68 this year, the second lowest round in school history, along with Valentina Mueller at the UNF Collegiate on Mar. 6.
Josefina Fernandez-Davila fired a two over par 74 on Tuesday, as she tied for 13th place at the invitational with a 10 over par 74-78-74-226. Ashley Dingman, who shot a 10 over par 75-76-75-226, and Mueller, who recorded a 10 over par 73-76-77-226, also finished in a tie for 13th place.
Grace Chua, playing as an individual, tied for 28th place with a 13 over par 76-75-78-229, while Ariane Klotz tied for 41st place with a 16 over par 77-78-77-232.
Allison Lindley of Ball State and Liz Choi of William & Mary shared medalist honors as both players finished with one over par 217 scores.
Delaware will be back on the course Friday when the Blue Hens face Towson in a dual meet at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace, Md.
