The Blue Hens scored five of the game's final six goals, but it was too little too late as Delaware dropped an 11-9 decision to Canisius Friday evening at Delaware Stadium. As has become the story this season, Becky Gohsler once again tallied a hat trick and finished the night with team-highs of four points (3g, 1a), four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Megan Santoleri added a career-best three points on two goals and an assist to go along with two draw controls and a ground ball while Kirsten Hale also registered two goals in addition to a team-best three draw controls and three ground balls. Taylor Carpentier picked up eight saves in the loss.
· Delaware will be featured on April 14 as the CAA Game of the Week on Lax sports Network as the Blue Hens play at William & Mary.
Kateri Linville (Delaware '03) has led the Blue Hens to four consecutive winning seasons and an overall record of 57-49 (.538).
· Eileen Ghent (Rutgers '11) is in her second season as the head coach at Monmouth, but previously served four seasons as an assistant coach and associate head coach with the Hawks. During her head coaching tenure, Monmouth has posted a 14-12 record.
ABOUT MONMOUTH
· The Hawks halted a four-game losing streak by upending Villanova, 17-11, Saturday.
· Alexa Smith, Alex Stambaugh, Olivia Higson and Nicole Ceraso each registered four points in the win. Smith scored four goals with Higson chipping in three and Stambaugh and Ceraso each grabbing two goals and two assists.
· Goalie Riley Brager tied a career-high with 11 saves against the Wildcats, giving her 21 total in two games last week.
· The Hawks have produced double-digit scoring efforts in all but one game this season.
· Ceraso leads Monmouth with 25 points on 12 goals and 13 assists while Higson has posted a team-best 20 goals with four assists for a total of 24 points.
· The Hawks were selected to finish second in the MAAC preseason poll, behind only defending MAAC Champion Canisius.
