Blue Hens Surge Into Lead Following Second Day of CAA Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware women's golf team carded the lowest score of the day as the Blue Hens took the lead on Saturday following the second round of the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship.
Delaware, attempting to defend its conference title from a year ago, fired a 295 on Saturday to move into first place with a two-round total of 601. UNCW sits in second place at 603, followed by Charleston at 604 and Towson at 607. James Madison is fifth with a 615 score, ahead of Elon (624), William & Mary (627) and Hofstra (668).
Blue Hen freshman Ariane Klotz shot an even par 72 to match her career-low during her second round on the par 72, 6,113-yard Blue Heron Course at Ford's Colony Country Club, finishing the day tied for fourth place with a four over par 76-72-148. Klotz birdied the first, 10th and 17th holes during her round, while adding 12 pars on the day.
Lyberty Anderson of UNCW leads the field with a two under par 142, while Laura Fuenfstueck of Charleston is three shots back at one over par. Ellinoora Moisio of UNCW is third at three over par, while Klotz and Josefine Garton of Charleston are tied for fourth at four over par.
Vitoria Teixeira carded her second consecutive three over par 75 on Saturday, and is tied for seventh place at 75-75-150, six over par. Teixeira posted birdies on 4 and 6 to go with 14 pars during her round. Ashley Dingman, who fired a four over par 76, is also tied for seventh place with a six over par score of 74-76-150.
Grace Chua tied her lowest round of the season with an even par 72 on Saturday, which included birdies on the sixth and 16th holes and just a pair of bogeys. Chua will enter Sunday's final round tied for 20th place with a 12 over par 84-72-156, while Valentina Mueller is tied for 28th place with her 17 over par score of 81-80-161.
The tournament's final round will begin from the first tee at 8 a.m. on Sunday, with the Blue Hens, UNCW and Charleston teeing off at 9:40 a.m.
