Hofstra jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead and never trailed the entire game but the Blue Hens were at their heels the entire game. The Pride took a 6-2 halftime lead and went up 7-2 early in the second half, but an inspired Delaware crept back in the game.
DeLargy, Romagnoli, and senior Paul Major each scored goals in the third quarter to cut the lead to 8-5 and the Hens pulled to within one at 8-7 with 12:27 left in the final stanza as Will Hirschmann scored a man-up goa 33 seconds in and Romagnoli netted an unassisted goal just two minutes later.
But the Hens could never get closer as the Pride ran off three straight goals, two by Byrne, to take control at 11-7. Romagnoli and DeLargy each scored again in the final 1:51 of action but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback.
