Mia DeRuggiero Tabbed CAA Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hens freshman Mia DeRuggiero (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) was recognized by the CAA Monday as the league's Rookie of the Week.
DeRuggiero, now a two-time CAA Rookie of the Week honoree, tied a season-high with three points in Delaware's crucial 16-9 win at Drexel to secure a spot in the CAA Tournament. The midfielder finished with a goal and tied a game-high with two assists. She has now posted back-to-back games with a season-high two assists.
For the year, DeRuggiero has tallied 16 points on nine goals and seven assists to go along with 14 ground balls, seven caused turnovers and six draw controls for the Hens (9-7, 4-2 CAA).
Towson's Kaitlyn Montalbano was named the CAA Player of the Week while Melanie McHugh (Elon) garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Delaware returns to the CAA Tournament for the first time since 2015 this Friday as the fourth-seeded Blue Hens take on top-seeded James Madison with a 4 p.m. draw.
