Delaware Men’s Golfers 13th After First Day of Elon Phoenix Invitational

BURLINGTON, N.C. – The University of Delaware men's golf team sits in 13th place on Monday following the opening two rounds of the Elon Phoenix Invitational.

The Blue Hens carded team rounds of 292 and 290 during the first day of the tournament, and finished the day in 13th place out of 16 squads with a 582 total. The host Phoenix leads the way at 560, while Gardner-Webb is four shots back.

Delaware freshman Roberto Nieves carded a one over par 71-72-143 on the par 71, 6,867 yard Alamance Country Club course, ending the day in a tie for 22nd place.

Jack Melville is tied for 30th place with a two over par 70-74-144, while Christian Chapman is tied for 47th place with a four over par 75-71-146.

RJ Wren fired a seven over par 76-73-149 to finish the day in a tie for 64th place, while Matt Pulgini is tied for 73rd place with a nine over par 76-75-151.

The final round of the invitational will begin with split tees at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
