Blue Hens Finish in 13th Place at Elon Phoenix Invitational

BURLINGTON, N.C. – The University of Delaware men's golf team finished in 13th place while Jack Melville tied for 14th place as the Blue Hens wrapped up play at the Elon Phoenix Invitational on Tuesday.
Delaware, which fired rounds of 292 and 290 on Monday, carded a 282 score on Tuesday to finish in 13th place out of 16 teams with an 864 total. Elon captured the team title with an 843 score, followed by Ohio University at 848 and Temple at 849.
Melville shot a three under par 68 during his final round on the par 71, 6,867 yard Alamance Country Club course, finishing with a one under par 70-74-68-212. Melville birdied the 13th, 18th, first and third holes on Tuesday, while adding 13 pars.
Roberto Nieves fired an even par 71 during his final round which included birdies on 15 and 6, tying for 21st place with a one over par 71-72-71-214. RJ Wren, who birdied 12, 7 and 9 during his one under par 70 on Tuesday, tied for 50th place at 76-73-70-219, six over par.
Christian Chapman also tied for 50th place with a six over par 75-71-73-219, while Matt Pulgini tied for 77th place with an 11 over par 76-75-73-224.
William Harwood of Elon was the tournament medalist by finishing at 10 under par, while Trey Wren of Temple and Brandon Einstein of High Point were each two shots back.
Delaware concludes its fall season Sunday through Tuesday at the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Intercollegiate at Kilmarlic Golf Club in Powells Point, N.C.
