NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware Director of Golf Programs Patty Post has announced that Blue He senior Jack Gianniny has been named men's golf captain for the 2018 spring season.
Gianniny (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) appeared in all five tournaments during the fall season, ranking second on the team with a 74.00 average round. He finished in second place at the Patriot Intercollegiate on Sept. 25-26 by firing a three under par 71-71-71-213, and was named CAA Men's Golfer of the Week the following day. He also tied for 13th place at the season-opening Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational with a six over par 75-72-75-222.
Gianniny has appeared in 36 tournaments during his career, averaging 74.45 shots per round.
"Jack is a well-deserved choice for captain as voted on by his teammates,” Post said. “He exhibits the 3 C's that all captains should; they are caring, courageous and consistent. They go above and beyond what is asked of them by their coaches, teammates and athletics staff. Jack will be a great leader for this team heading into our spring season."
