RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hens senior Taylor Carpentier (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) was named the CAA Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Monday by the conference.
The goalie had a strong performance in the cage to help Delaware (8-9, 3-3 CAA) to a crucial 10-8 victory over Drexel to clinch a berth into this coming weekend's CAA Tournament.
Carpentier made eight saves on the night and stonewalled the Dragons in the final 5:46 of the contest to thwart a comeback attempt. She also picked up a game-high five ground balls.
With her eight saves, Carpentier became the sixth player in program history to reach 400 career saves, a mark recorded in just three seasons.
The Blue Hens take on No. 4/4 James Madison at 4 p.m. Friday in the CAA Semifinals at JMU's Sentara Park.
