Carpentier, Gohsler and Simms Garner IWLCA Regional Accolades

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The University of Delaware had three student-athletes honored Friday as the IWLCA released its All-Region Teams.
Senior Taylor Carpentier (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and Becky Gohsler (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and junior Chantae Simms (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll) each received Mid Atlantic Region Second Team accolades.
The awards marked the first-ever for Carpentier and Simms while Gohsler earned recognition in back-to-back seasons. The Blue Hens saw three honorees for the first time since the 2015 campaign.
Carpentier finished the year for the Blue Hens by leading the Colonial Athletic Association with 168 saves and 2.88 ground balls per game and is second with a 45.4 save percentage, fourth with a 12.39 GAA and ninth with 1.47 caused turnovers per. The goalie wrapped her Delaware career fifth all-time with a 9.42 GAA, sixth with 406 saves and tied for seventh with 52 caused turnovers.
Gohsler guided Delaware this season with 51 points on 36 goals to go along with 15 assists, a school-record 81 draw controls, 39 ground balls and 38 caused turnovers. The midfielder ranked in the Top 10 of seven CAA statistical categories and was 13th nationally with 2.11 caused turnovers per game. She concluded her career in a Blue Hens uniform tied for first all-time with 186 draw controls and third with 80 caused turnovers.
In a career-year for Simms, the defender led the CAA with 50 ground balls and was seventh with 31 caused turnovers, a mark that tied for sixth in UD single-season history.
