Blue Hens in Second Place Following Opening Round of Wildcat Fall Invitational

MALVERN, Pa. – The University of Delaware men's golf team fired a 289 score during Friday's opening round at the Wildcat Fall Invitational to end the day in second place.
Appalachian State leads the seven-team field with a 285 score, while the Blue Hens are four shots back. Georgetown sits in third place at 290, while St. John's is fourth with a 292 score.
UD freshman Roberto Nieves carded an even par 71 on the White Manor Country Club course and is tied for third place in the individual standings. Nieves posted four birdies on the day, including two late in his round on the 15th and 18th holes.
Christian Chapman shot a one over par 72 during his opening round to end the day tied for eighth place. Chapman began his round in impressive fashion, posting birdies on 1, 4 and 7 to quickly move to three under par. RJ Wren, who carded consecutive birdies on 8 and 9, is also tied for eighth place after finishing at one over par for the day.
Jack Melville is tied for 18th place with a three over par 74 while Nick Vecellio, playing as an individual, is tied for 25th place with a five over par 76. Matt Pulgini, who fired a seven over par 78, sits in 36th place.
The three-day tournament continues on Saturday.
