Blue Hens Take On Day 1 of Hokie Fall Invite

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The fall season is officially underway as the Blue Hens completed the first day of the Hokie Fall Invite Friday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Delaware faced tough competition and wrapped the day with two singles and one doubles win.
In the singles Duty Flight, freshman Viva Laas registered her first collegiate victory by topping Georgia Southern's Paige Christian, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. Laas will now face Liberty's Maria Medina at noon Saturday in quarterfinals action.
Senior Annie Jaskulski posted her first win of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Iowa State's Karen Alvarez. Jaskulski is slated to face Appalachian State's Gracey Hirsch at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Service Flight quarterfinals.
In doubles play, freshman Emily Gotkiewicz paired with sophomore Sarah Whited to leg out the 8-7 (7) win against West Virginia's Christina Jordan and Giovanni Caputo before falling to Penn State in the Loyalty Flight quarterfinals.
