Blue Hens Move Up to Finish Sixth at Season-Opening Turning Stone Intercollegiate

VERONA, N.Y. – The University of Delaware men's golf team finished in sixth place while Jack Melville and Christian Chapman each tied for 11th place as the Blue Hens opened their 2018 fall season this weekend at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.
Delaware carded a 297 score during Monday's final round to move up one spot and finish sixth out of 18 teams with a three-round total of 893. Tournament host Missouri easily captured the team title with an 848 score, while North Dakota State finished second at 877.
Chapman fired the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen with a one under par 71 on Turning Stone Resort's par 72, 6,882-yard Kaluhyat Course, tying for 11th place at 73-74-71-218, two over par. Melville, who shot an even par 72 on Monday, also finished at two over par with a 75-71-72-218. Matt Pulgini, playing as an individual, tied for 17th place at the invitational with a four over par 75-70-75-220.
Roberto Nieves carded a 14 over par 80-75-75-230 during the weekend to tie for 52nd place, while Andrew Jacobs tied for 62nd place with a 16 over par 76-77-79-232. RJ Wren finished in 68th place with a 17 over par 75-79-79-233.
Christian Cavaliere of Boston College was the tournament medalist as he finished at 10 under par to post a two-shot victory.
Both Blue Hen golf teams will compete in the Golfweek Program Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C. next Sunday through Tuesday.
