Blue Hens Finish Second, Wren Fourth at Wildcat Fall Invitational

MALVERN, Pa. – The University of Delaware men's golf team finished in second place while RJ Wren and Jack Melville posted top 10 finishes on Sunday as the Blue Hens capped a successful weekend at the Wildcat Fall Invitational.
Delaware, which carded rounds of 289 and 291 during the first two days of the tournament, fired a 292 on Sunday to finish in second place out of seven teams with an 872 total. Appalachian State captured the team crown with an 864 score, while the Blue Hens finished eight shots back. Georgetown placed third at 873, while VCU was fourth at 875.
Wren fired an even par 71 on the 71, 6,670-yard White Manor Country Club course on Sunday, tying for fourth place with a three over par 72-73-71-216. Wren was five under for the day through 11 holes before finishing at even par.
Melville carded a three over par 74 during his final round, as he tied for seventh place with a four over par 74-69-74-217. Christian Chapman, who posted the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen with a one under par 70, tied for 13th place with a six over par 72-77-70-219.
Roberto Nieves shot a seven over par 71-72-77 for the weekend to tie for 15th place while Nick Vecellio, playing as an individual, tied for 31st place with a 14 over par 76-73-78-227. Matt Pulgini, who carded a 22 over par 78-78-79-235, finished in 39th place at the invitational.
Appalachian State teammates Tripp Summerlin and Chance Watson, along with Georgetown's Patrick DiPasquale, tied for medalist honors as all three players finished at two over par.
Delaware is back in action on October 15-16 at the Elon Invitational in Burlington, N.C.
