PRINCETON, N.J. – The Delaware men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision to Princeton on Tuesday night at Roberts Stadium.
The Tigers struck first in the 19th minute when Daniel Diaz Bonilla collected a pass from Frankie DeRosa on the left side and fired a shot into the top right corner of the cage.
Princeton added a second goal in the 79th minute when Spencer Fleurant collected a service from Ryan Clare and scored from 16 yards out. Fleurant notched his second goal of the night less than four minutes later when he took a feed from Truman Gelnovatch and scored from six yards out to conclude the scoring.
Princeton held a 14-7 shot advantage, and attempted 11 of the 13 shots in the second half. Jack Roberts made five saves in the Princeton goal, while Delaware keeper Nick DeShong stopped one shot for the Blue Hens.
Head Coach Ian Hennessy
"We had an important conference game last weekend that left us depleted, and obviously Rex (Twum) breaking his leg was a huge loss for us. But tonight I thought for 80 minutes we battled really hard, and it wasn't until the last 10 that we ran out of gas. We've got another big home game against a ranked opponent this Saturday so hopefully we can get a good crowd out to support the lads in a critical CAA game against James Madison."
