NEW YORK, N.Y. – Big things happen in the Big City.
That mantra held true for the University of Delaware track & field team at this weekend's Armory Last Chance Meet in New York City.
The Blue Hens posted 18 top-three finishes, including eight victories and one school record at the final regular season indoor meet of 2018-19.
"I'm proud of the way our girls worked throughout the indoor season. The work they put in paid off on the track and I'm excited to see what they can do at ECACs next week," head coach Wendy McFarlane-Smith said.
Seniors Carly Pettipaw (500m), Jeanette Bendolph (800m) and Ashley Bailey (pole vault), along with freshman Danielle Rochester (60m), sophomore Susanna Weir (1000m), junior Stephanie Bazan (5000m), sophomore Myrissa McFolling-Young (shot put) and the 4x200 relay team all came away with wins at the meet.
Pettipaw came away with her second school record of the indoor season, winning the 500m with a time of 1:14.71. She now owns the indoor school record in both the 500m and the 600m, along with second all-time in the 800m.
Bailey took home her 23rdcareer pole vault victory with a season-best clearing of 12' 11 ½".
Bendolph raced home with the second-fastest time in school history to win the 800m with a time of 2:09.96.
McFolling-Young took home her second win of the year and third of her young career with a toss of 43' 2 ¼" in the shot put.
Bazan led a trio of Blue Hens to a top-three sweep in the 5000m as the junior was followed by teammates Roxanne Ramirez and Analise Kaminski to get the meet started on the right foot for Delaware.
Weir's time in the 1000m was the seventh-fastest in school history and missed an ECAC-qualifying time by just .01 seconds.
Senior Andriene Rose, sophomore Taliah Cintron and freshmen Roshelle Leaks and Halima Scott teamed up to take home the victory in the 4x200 relay, while Rose and Leaks also grabbed top-three finishes in the long jump at the meet.
