Scott Takes Home CAA Track Athlete of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Well, Halima Scott of the University of Delaware track & field program is making quite a good one just two races into her first outdoor season as a Blue Hen.

This past weekend at the Winthrop Invitational, Scott raced to two ECAC qualifying times, including an individual victory in the 400m. For her efforts, she was named CAA Track Athlete of the Week.

In the 400m, Scott raced a time of 56.20 to win the event and qualify for the ECAC Championships. It's the best time in the CAA so far this spring and the sixth fastest time in program history.

She then ran a leg of the 4x400 relay, which clocked in a 3:50.67, good for another ECAC qualifying time and a top-five finish at the meet.

Scott and her teammates return to Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium this Saturday, March 30 for the annual Delaware Classic.
