Eric Carter Named Second Team All-CAA, Ithiel Horton Earns All-Rookie Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware senior forward Eric Carter was named Second Team All-CAA while freshman guard Ithiel Horton was selected to the CAA All-Rookie Team as the league announced its all-conference honorees on Friday.
Carter (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) has started all but one game for the Blue Hens this season, leading the team with 16.0 points and 9.9 rebounds per contest. He currently ranks second in the league in rebounding, fifth with a 58.3 field goal percentage, and ninth in scoring.
Carter has reached double figures in all but four games this season, and is tied for second in the conference with 12 double-doubles. He scored 29 points in the season-opener at Maryland, and added a career-high 33 points in a win over Saint Francis. Carter currently ranks third in UD history with a 55.8 field goal percentage, sixth with 803 rebounds and 29th with 1,062 points.
Horton (Vauxhall, N.J./Roselle Catholic) has appeared in all 31 games during his freshman campaign, ranking third on the team with 12.5 points per game while leading the squad with 68 three-pointers. He leads all CAA rookies in scoring, and has reached double figures in 20 games.
A four-time CAA Rookie of the Week honoree, Horton set a UD record by knocking down nine three-pointers during the win at UNCW, while his 31 points that night tied the Blue Hen single game freshman mark. He capped the regular season in impressive fashion last week, tying for the team lead with 16 points vs. Northeastern before adding 26 against Hofstra.
Justin Wright-Foreman of Hofstra earned his second straight CAA Player of the Year award, while the Pride's Joe Mihalich was tabbed CAA Coach of the Year. Camren Wynter of Drexel earned CAA Rookie of the Year accolades, while Hofstra's Desure Buie was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year.
Sheldon Eberhardt of Elon won the Sixth Man of the Year award, Paul Rowley of William & Mary was the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award winner, and Tyler Seibring of Elon was named the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Delaware finished the regular season with a 16-15 record, and the Blue Hens will be the fifth seed in the CAA Tournament with an 8-10 league mark. UD will take on fourth-seeded William & Mary in the quarterfinals on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the North Charleston (S.C.) Coliseum.
