Meyer’s Record-Breaking Run Highlights Trip to Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – Stepping off the track after a race earlier this season, junior Michaela Meyer looked at Assistant Coach Ryan Waite and said, "this is going to be a great year."
Just a few weeks into the outdoor season, that statement already rings true after Meyer steamrolled her way to a school record in the 800m at the prestigious Raleigh Relays to highlight the trip for a small group from the University of Delaware track & field program.
Meyer crossed the line in 2:07.02, more than a second faster than the previous school record set by Lindsay Prettyman in 2014. Her time not only won the event, but is the best in the CAA and top-30 time in the country.
Her teammate Carly Pettipaw also qualified for ECACs in the event, clocking in at 2:09.91 to grab a top-10 finish in the event. The upperclassmen duo now have the two fastest times in the CAA in the 800 this spring.
The Blue Hens weren't done, racing to an ECAC qualifying time in the 4x800 relay as well. Meyer teamed with Sydni Stovall, Susanna Weir and Tina Capparell to clock in at 9:10.24, good for a seventh-place finish at the meet.
