Blue Hens in Third Place Following First Day of CAA Championship

SOUTHPORT, N.C. – The Delaware women's golf team sits in third place while three Blue Hens are among the top 10 individuals following Friday's opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
Delaware carded a 315 score on Friday, ending the day in third place out of eight squads. UNCW leads the field with a 309 score, followed by Charleston at 314 and the Blue Hens. Towson is one shot behind UD at 316, while James Madison sits in fifth place with a 320 score.
Blue Hen senior Ashley Dingman carded a four over par 76 on the par 72, 6,103-yard Reserve Club course at St. James Plantation, ending the day in a tie for fifth place. Dingman opened her round with 11 consecutive pars, and added a birdie on the 15th hole.
Thitaree Sakulbunpanich sits in seventh place following her five over par 77 during her opening round. Sakulbunpanich birdied the first and eighth holes on Friday, to go with nine pars. Sophia Dieter, who birdied the 11th hole, is tied for eighth place at the tournament with a six over par 78.
Ariane Klotz is tied for 27th place with a 12 over par 84, while Valentina Mueller is tied for 34th place with a 15 over par 87.
Jordan Cornelius of Towson, Victoria Huskey of Charleston, and Thao My Nguyen of UNCW are each tied for the individual lead at one over par.
The second round of the three-day tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
