The Roost: Six Things You Need To Know

1. Baseball Lit Up Bob Hannah Stadium
For the first time in the history of Delaware baseball, the Blue Hens played home games under the lights of Bob Hannah Stadium. Bob Hannah himself, the legendary coach who won over 1,000 games in 36 years at the helm of Delaware baseball, was on hand to throw out the first pitch on Saturday.
The only thing more beautiful than the diamond lit up at night was the pitching performances that guided the Blue Hens to a huge series sweep of William & Mary. Joey Silan and Derek Wakeley combined to throw nine crucial shutout innings in a 1-0 win on Friday night, Chris Ludman limited the Tribe to just two runs in 8.1 innings on Saturday, and on Sunday, Brandon Walter threw 116 pitches to notch the win in his first appearance back from injury.
There's a lot of baseball left to be played, but the sweep propelled the Blue Hens to fourth place in the Colonial Athletic Association, where the top six teams make the CAA Tournament.
2. A Behind-The-Back Goal Put The Exclamation Point On Another CAA Win For Men's Lax
Freshman Clay Miller, the CAA Rookie of the Week, scored this beautiful behind-the-back goal to give Delaware a 5-2 lead over Drexel early in the second quarter.

Miller was one of five Blue Hens to score multiple goals, as the balanced attack led Delaware to a 15-13 win. The Blue Hens are off to a 2-0 start in CAA play, where every game is a battle. Delaware faces a tough three-game stretch of conference opponents to close out the season (Hofstra, Towson, at UMass), but just one more win would secure a berth in the CAA Tournament. Wins in all three would build a strong case for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
3. Track & Field Won The Colonial Relays For The Second Straight Year
Delaware claimed the women's championship at the historic Colonial Relays for the second year in a row behind 24 top-10 finishes. The Blue Hens also broke a school record for the second week in a row. The 4x1500 squad of Michaela Meyer, Val Romero, Susanna Weir and Dianna Dunn won the event with a mark of 18:34.22, more than 30 seconds faster than the previous program record. Last week, Meyer broke the school record in the 800-meter run.

4. Women's Golf Took Home The Ivy League Match Madness Title
In a final tune-up before the CAA Championship this weekend, Delaware women's golf captured the Ivy League Match Madness championship with wins over Wagner, Penn and Princeton. In the final match against the Tigers, Ariana Klotz led the way with a 4&3 victory over Sophie Siminoff.

5. Reyna de Jesus Flashed The Leather All Weekend
Right field at the Delaware Softball Stadium belongs to Reyna de Jesus. The sophomore made diving catches throughout the weekend series against Towson, including one she turned into a double play with a heads-up throw back to first.

From the Grand Canyon to Thailand, the Blue Hens made the most of their spring break!

Blue Hens In The Pros
Jordan Hall, who played lacrosse at Delaware from 2004-07, notched his 700th career National Lacrosse League (NLL) point on Saturday. The 2005 CAA Player of the Year had three goals and two assists for the Philadelphia Wings.
